Banco Finantia took part as a co-financier in a landmark sustainable financing operation led by FMO – the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank, with a total value of USD 370 million, granted to Sudameris Bank, one of Paraguay’s leading financial institutions. This transaction represents the largest syndicated loan ever arranged exclusively by FMO and the largest external financing obtained by Sudameris to date, further strengthening a 15-year partnership between the two institutions.

In addition to FMO, the co-financiers in this transaction included FinDev Canada, JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), Proparco (France), the Commercial Bank of Dubai, and Banco Finantia. This international collaboration aims to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Paraguay, with a particular focus on green financing, support for SMEs, and financial inclusion. The funds will be allocated to projects in strategic sectors such as sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, energy efficiency, green buildings, and forestry, with special attention given to women-led SMEs and businesses in rural areas.

Banco Finantia was represented by Renato Schulman, Managing Director – USA, at the Future of Finance 2025 conference, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where the operation’s key partners came together. During the event, Huib-Jan de Ruijter, FMO’s Chief Investment Officer, highlighted the transaction’s transformative impact, noting that it not only strengthens the relationship with Sudameris but also brings new financiers into Paraguay’s banking sector, diversifying its funding base and enhancing its capacity to promote inclusive growth.

Sébastien Lahaie, a member of Sudameris’ Supervisory Board, stated that this transaction takes the partnership with FMO to a new level, enabling the bank to strengthen its support for Paraguay’s development and maintain its leadership in financing emerging economic sectors in the country. The participation of institutions such as Proparco, FinDev Canada, JICA, Banco Finantia, and the Commercial Bank of Dubai further underscores the Paraguayan market’s openness to international investment.

With a well-established presence in Latin America and strong expertise in structured finance transactions, Banco Finantia reaffirms its role as a strategic partner in international initiatives that promote sustainable development, offering innovative, responsible financial solutions tailored to the needs of its clients.
