Account Closing

If you wish to proceed with closing your account, Banco Finantia provides a simple and transparent process, which can be initiated by completing the Account Closure Form available on this page.

The request must be submitted by the account holder(s) or authorized representative(s) and signed by all parties associated with the account.

Important information before requesting account closure

→ Balance: The account must have a zero balance at the time of closure. If there are any remaining funds, please indicate on the form the account to which the amount should be transferred;

Standing orders: If there are any standing transfer instructions associated with the account, these must be cancelled or transferred to another account. You may also use the form to indicate this change;

Cheques: All cheques associated with the account must be returned and cancelled. After closure, Banco Finantia will refuse any payment instruction based on cheques issued on that account.

Note: The presentation of cheques drawn on a closed account may result in legal restrictions regarding their use, in accordance with applicable legislation.

With regard to subscribed products and services, please note the following:

Term Deposits

Early withdrawal deposits: If the account is closed before maturity, the deposit will be withdrawn. The client must expressly declare that they understand and accept the total loss of any interest accrued on the withdrawn capital;

→ Non-withdrawable deposits: Early withdrawal of these deposits is not permitted.

Financial Assets

If there are any securities, funds, or other financial assets associated with the account, these must be transferred to another account before the closure can be completed.
When completing the account closure form, you must provide specific instructions regarding the transfer or destination of those assets.

The account closure service is free of charge; however, it may be subject to the settlement of any outstanding balances, contracts, or associated assets. Fees set out in the Bank’s pricing schedule may apply if additional transactions are required (e.g., balance transfers or asset liquidation).

Yes. You may request account closure at any time. To do so, you must ensure the full transfer of the available balance and the settlement or cancellation of all active products and services.

No. The account closure service is free of charge for the client.
However, it may be necessary to settle any outstanding balances, contracts, or assets associated with the account. Fees set out in the Bank’s pricing schedule will apply if additional transactions are required, such as balance transfers, asset liquidation, or other related services.

  • Withdrawable deposits: In the event of account closure before the deposit’s maturity date, the client must accept the total loss of any accrued or future interest, and only the invested capital will be credited;
  • Non-withdrawable deposits: Early withdrawal is not permitted.

Financial assets associated with the account must be transferred in advance to another institution. Without such instruction, the Bank will not be able to complete the closure process.

All cheques associated with the account must be returned to the Bank for cancellation and subsequent invalidation. After the account has been closed, any cheque issued on that account will be returned.

Standing orders will no longer be active once the account has been closed. They may be cancelled or transferred to another account through the Account Closure Form or with the support of your relationship manager.
